This is a list of special events at Montauk State Park and the upper Current River area.

March 1 - Trout season opens at Montauk. Fishing starts at 6:30 in the morning.
March 11 - Montauk Arbor Day. Free tree seedlings will be given out at the lodge between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
March 18 - Men's Trout Tournament
                        (6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
Open to men of any age.  Separate fly and bait categories. Two winners in each class, heaviest trout and heaviest stringer of trout.   Winners will receive lodge gift certificates.  Register at the lodge.
April 1 - Women's Trout Tournament
                            (7 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
Open to women of any age.  Separate fly and bait categories. Two winners in each class, heaviest trout and heaviest stringer of trout.   Winners will receive lodge gift certificates.  Register at the lodge.
April 8 - Spring Wildflower Event
                      ( 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.)
Includes a study guide and hands on wildflower search.   Pre-register at the park office.
April 15 - Spring Wildflower Event
                      ( 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.)
Includes a study guide and hands on wildflower search.   Pre-register at the park office.
April 22 - Birds Of Prey Program
                (2 p.m.)
Presented by the World Bird Sanctuary. Includes live hawks, owls, vultures, bald eagles and falcons. To be held in the field next to Montauk Lodge.
April 28 & 29 - Eagles Park
Star (Gazing) Party
Campground lights will be turned off. Come see the stars. Bring a telescope or binoculars if you have them. Otherwise, there should be a few nice scopes that you can look through.

April 29 - Fishing For The Stars
                (7 p.m.)
Storyteller Gale Portman will tell an interesting story about the history of the Ozarks, folklore, astronomy, fishes and animals at the Montauk amphitheater.
May 11 - Senior's Trout Tournament Open to any man or woman 60 years of age or older.   Separate fly and bait categories. Two winners in each class, heaviest trout and heaviest stringer of trout.  Winners will receive lodge gift certificates.   Register at the lodge.
May 14 - Mother's Day Buffet Buffet at the lodge from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
May 20 - Kids Free Fishing Day No trout tag required for ages 15 and under.
June 10 - Montauk Open House Outdoor Amphitheater 6 p.m. - 8p.m.
June 10 & 11 - Free Fishing Days No trout tag or license required to fish at Montauk.
June 10 & 11 - Fly Casting And Fishing                    Clinic
    (1 p.m. Saturday & 10 a.m. Sunday)
Meet adjacent to the lodge in the large open field.
June 14 - Flag Day American flags will be on display throughout the park.
July 2 - Sunday at Montauk Craft exhibits, bluegrass, folk, and country musicians and dancers.  Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be available.  Near the open shelter house across from the Montauk Mill.
August 12 - Junior's Trout Tournament Open to boys and girls 15 years old or under.   Separate fly and bait categories. Two winners in each class, heaviest trout and heaviest stringer of trout.  Winners will receive lodge gift certificates.   Register at the lodge.
August 12 & 13 - Fly Fishing Clinic
     (1 p.m. Saturday & 10 a.m. Sunday)
Meet adjacent to the lodge in the large open field.
August 19 - Kids Free Fishing Day No trout tag required for ages 15 and under.
September 9 - 110th Anniversary of Montauk Mill Corn grinding demonstration, antique equipment displays, mill tours, and live entertainment.
September 16 & 17 - Missouri Trout Fisherman's Association Tournament Open to all.  Participants will pay an entry fee and prizes will be awarded for tagged fish.  Awards are given on Sunday after 12 noon.
September 22 & 23 - Eagles Park Star (Gazing) Party Campground lights will be turned off. Come see the stars. Bring a telescope or binoculars if you have them. Otherwise there should be a few nice scopes that you can look through.

October 7 & 8 - 43rd Annual Rose Holland Trout Derby Open to all.  Participants will pay an entry fee and prizes will be awarded for tagged fish.  Awards are given on Sunday after 12 noon.
A country store, bake sale, evening auction, health screening, and live entertainment.
November 10 - Catch and Release Trout Season Opens Lodge will be open Fridays through Sundays.
November 23 - Thanksgiving Dinner Buffet Buffet at the lodge from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
